153 973 78 FLUSHING DEVICE Serving as the backbone of the entire rock drill, this body assembly houses all critical internal components, from the percussion piston to the rotation gearing. It contains the precisely machined bores and hydraulic passages that direct high-pressure oil to generate impact and rotation. The structural integrity of this housing is essential for transferring drilling power efficiently through the shank adapter and into the drill string.

Positioned as the central component of the drifter, the body ensures that every moving part operates in correct alignment. Any wear or damage, such as cracking or internal scoring, can lead to a significant loss of performance. For instance, if a hairline crack develops between hydraulic passages, the drifter will lose impact energy and drill much slower. This assembly also provides the main mounting points for attaching the drifter to the feed cradle.

Regularly inspect the body for external cracks, especially around mounting points or after a drill string jam. Persistent oil leaks that cannot be traced to hoses or external seals may point to an internal failure. If significant damage is found, the assembly must be replaced to prevent a major failure and maintain safe operating pressures.
