Replacing these isn't rocket science, but it’s a job where you really need to pay attention to alignment. Don't just slap a new one on; take the time to clean the mounting surfaces thoroughly and check the bolts. A common thing folks forget is to properly lubricate the new rail and the mating surfaces of the carriage. That initial lubrication is key to getting a good service life out of it right from the start. Also, give the rollers or pads that run on the rail a good once-over while you’re in there; they often wear together.
