If it's a wear PLATE, clearances open up, and you might hear a new clunking or rattling sound from that area, especially when the rig is cycling. For example, if it's in the feed system, you could see the feed cylinder or chain assembly start to bind or move inconsistently because the guides aren't held tight anymore. Or, if it's a backing PLATE, you could get premature failure of the component it's supporting, like a bearing getting hammered or a seal leaking because its housing isn't seated right.

Replacing one of these isn't usually a major job, but it's crucial to get it right. Always check the mating surfaces for damage or burrs before you slap the new one in; sometimes the wear on the PLATE means the housing itself has taken a hit. And don't forget to look at any shims or spacers that go with it – those often get overlooked, but they're there for a reason, usually to set a critical clearance.
