COVER (LEFT)

237 703 42 GEAR COVER Serving as a crucial barrier, this left-side cover protects vital internal assemblies like gearboxes or rotation units from the demanding conditions of drilling. Its primary function is to seal the housing against abrasive dust, moisture, and falling rock fragments. This protection is fundamental to preventing the contamination of lubricants and sensitive mechanical parts, which is key to maintaining the machine's health.

A missing or fractured cover directly compromises the equipment's reliability and can introduce safety risks. For instance, a crack allows drilling dust and water to enter the gearbox, leading to premature gear and bearing wear. An intact cover also contains lubricants and shields technicians from rotating internal parts, contributing to a safer work environment around the machine.

Visually inspect the cover for cracks, deformation, or damage from impacts during routine walk-arounds. Pay close attention to the integrity of its mounting points and sealing surfaces. If significant damage is found, replacing the cover is a straightforward and cost-effective measure to prevent a much more expensive failure of the components inside.
