BODY
This is the main structural housing for the rock drifter, often referred to as the 239 468 78 BODY. It provides the essential foundation for all internal components, ensuring their precise alignment for reliable operation and efficient transfer of drilling power.

Full Technical Description
239 468 78 BODY Serving as the central chassis of the rock drill, this BODY houses the critical moving parts like the piston, rotation chuck, and internal valving. It contains the complex network of internal passages for high-pressure hydraulic oil that powers the percussion and rotation functions, as well as the channels for flushing air and water.
The structural integrity of this housing is directly linked to the drifter's performance and service life. For example, if internal surfaces wear beyond tolerance, hydraulic pressure can leak between circuits, causing a noticeable drop in impact energy. Proper alignment maintained by the BODY is also key to preventing premature failure of seals, bushings, and the main piston.
During major services, always inspect the BODY for signs of fatigue, especially fine cracks around threaded ports or mounting surfaces. A persistent drop in drilling power or external oil leaks that cannot be traced to hoses or seals may also point to an internal crack. Replacing the BODY is a major task that requires a complete drifter disassembly.
