PLATE, MOUNTING

028 044 90 PLATE, MOUNTING is essentially the backbone for securing various components on the rig, like pumps, valves, or sometimes even smaller auxiliary motors. It’s what keeps things from flopping around when the machine’s really working hard, especially during drilling or tramming. Think of it as the anchor point; it takes the vibration and the static load, making sure whatever’s bolted to it stays put and aligned. If this plate isn't solid, nothing else will be either.

When this plate starts to give up, you’ll usually notice some pretty clear signs. Often, what happens is the bolted components, like a hydraulic pump, might start showing signs of misalignment. You could hear new, unusual noises – a kind of rattling or a deeper vibration that wasn't there before, especially under load. Sometimes, if it’s really bad, you might even see stress cracks forming around the bolt holes or welds, indicating it’s no longer holding things as rigidly as it should. That misalignment can then lead to premature wear on shafts, couplings, or even hose failures from excessive movement.

Replacing one of these isn't usually a quick swap, as you often have to unmount whatever’s attached to it first. When you’re putting a new one in, make sure all mounting surfaces are clean and flat; any grit or old gasket material can cause uneven loading and lead to early failure again. And don't forget to properly torque all fasteners, checking them again after a few hours of operation. It's easy to overlook a slightly loose bolt, but that's where a lot of these problems start.
