HOUSING ASSY

303 652 25 GEAR HOUSING ASSY The housing assembly is a core structural element within a rock drilling rig, typically found enclosing the vital internal mechanisms of the drifter unit. It provides the essential framework and protection for components like the impact piston, rotation gears, and various valves. This robust enclosure shields these working parts from the severe conditions underground and the intense forces generated during drilling, ensuring they remain aligned and functional.

The integrity of this housing directly influences the overall performance and reliability of the drilling operation. A well-maintained housing ensures that the internal components are correctly aligned, allowing for efficient energy transfer and consistent drilling rates. If the housing develops cracks or becomes deformed, it can lead to misalignments inside the drifter, causing excessive wear on parts like bearings and seals. For instance, a damaged housing might allow the impact piston to move inefficiently, resulting in a noticeable drop in impact energy and slower penetration.

Regular visual inspections of the housing assembly are important to check for any signs of damage like cracks, deformation, or excessive wear. Pay attention to any unusual vibrations or noises coming from the drifter, as these can sometimes indicate internal issues related to the housing's integrity. If the housing shows significant damage, replacing it is generally the best course of action to prevent further component failures and ensure the drill continues to operate safely and effectively.
