PLUG
The PLUG 3115 5716 00 is a fundamental sealing component, commonly found in hydraulic manifolds or gearboxes on Epiroc and Atlas Copco rigs. It reliably seals off critical ports, preventing fluid leaks and keeping contaminants out, which is essential for maintaining proper system pressure and cleanliness.

Full Technical Description
PLUG 3115 5716 00 this little guy is usually found sealing off a port in a manifold block, a valve body, or sometimes even a gearbox casing. Its job is straightforward: keep the hydraulic oil or gear lube exactly where it needs to be, and keep dirt or water out. It's not a complex part, just a solid stopper that makes sure pressure doesn't bleed off where it shouldn't, or that contaminants don't get into a critical passage. Think of it as a simple cap for a vital opening, maintaining the integrity of the system.
When this plug starts to fail, it's almost always the seal – the O-ring or thread sealant – that gives up first, not the plug itself. You’ll usually notice a slow weep of hydraulic oil around the fitting, or if it's a drain plug, a persistent drip. If it’s on a pressure port, especially in a hydraulic circuit, you might even see a slight drop in system pressure over time, or some sluggishness in a cylinder that’s fed by that manifold. It’s rarely a sudden blow-out, but that little leak can make a real mess and eventually lead to bigger problems if you just keep topping up the tank.
Replacing one of these is pretty much a standard job. Just make sure you clean the threads thoroughly in the port before you put the new one in. And this is key: always use the correct new thread sealant or a fresh O-ring, depending on how it’s designed to seal. A lot of guys just slap a new plug in, but if the threads are gunked up or you reuse an old, flattened O-ring, you’re just inviting another leak down the road. Torque it correctly, but don't go crazy and strip the threads in the manifold – fixing that is a much bigger headache than a simple plug replacement.
