Without good seals, you're just pushing oil around without actually doing any work, or worse, mixing fluids.

When these seals start to go, you'll definitely notice it. Usually, what happens is the cylinder starts drifting, or maybe it's sluggish to respond. And don't forget to properly lubricate the new seals before installation – a bit of clean hydraulic oil or assembly lube makes a huge difference in preventing initial damage. It's easy to rush, but taking an extra minute here saves you from doing the job again next week.
