REAR JACK RIGHT

313 074 68 REAR JACK RIGHT is pretty straightforward, really. It’s one of those lights mounted at the back of the rig, usually tucked up a bit to keep it out of harm’s way as much as possible. Its main job is to make sure anyone working around the machine, or another rig operator, can clearly see the back end, especially when you’re reversing or just moving around a dark job site. Helps prevent people from walking into the rig, or the operator backing into something they shouldn’t.

When one of these starts to go, it’s usually pretty obvious. You’ll either get a flicker, which is annoying and sometimes intermittent, or it just flat out dies. The big issue here isn't just the light itself, but the safety aspect. If your rear lights are out, especially on a busy site or at night, you’re putting people at risk. You’ll notice ground crew waving their arms more, or other operators giving you a wide berth because they can’t properly judge your rig’s position in the dark.

Replacing it isn't rocket science, but always double-check the wiring harness connection. Sometimes it’s not the light itself that’s failed, but corrosion in the connector or a pinched wire somewhere further up the line. A quick visual inspection of the lens for cracks is also a good idea; water ingress can kill these things prematurely. Make sure the mounting bolts are snug too, vibration is a killer for electrical components.
