SUPPORT, HOSE

313 340 08 SUPPORT, HOSE Hoses on a drilling rig are constantly exposed to movement, vibration, and potential snagging hazards. A SUPPORT, HOSE plays a crucial role in managing these lines, keeping them organized and protected. It prevents hoses from chafing against metal structures, getting pinched by moving parts, or kinking in tight bends. Proper hose management is essential for maintaining the integrity of the hydraulic and pneumatic circuits that power the drifter, feed, and boom functions.

When hoses are not properly supported, they can experience premature wear, leading to leaks or even catastrophic bursts. A burst hydraulic hose can cause significant downtime, create a safety hazard from high-pressure fluid release, and contaminate the mine environment. Inadequate support can also lead to hoses interfering with the rig's moving components, potentially causing damage to the machine or reducing drilling efficiency. For example, a kinked hose supplying the drifter can restrict oil flow, directly impacting impact energy and penetration rate.

Regular inspection of hose supports is a simple but effective maintenance task. Look for any signs of cracking, bending, or excessive wear on the support itself. Also, check that hoses are still securely held and not showing signs of chafing or unusual stress points near the support. If a SUPPORT, HOSE is damaged or no longer holding the hose firmly, it should be replaced promptly to prevent more costly hose failures and maintain operational safety.
