HOSE

HOSE 3222 9860 96 Flexible hoses are essential conduits in any underground drilling rig, carrying pressurized hydraulic fluid or air to power various functions. A hose like this one, with its 1/4-inch diameter, typically serves in critical smaller circuits. It might be found in the drifter's lubrication system, a pilot control line, or perhaps a flushing air line, connecting components that move relative to each other, such as between a boom and its cylinder, or within the drifter itself.

Maintaining the integrity of these hoses is paramount for both safety and drilling performance. A compromised hose can lead to significant pressure loss, directly impacting the power delivered to the drifter for rock breaking or the feed system for penetration. For instance, if a lubrication line hose fails, the drifter's internal components can quickly suffer from lack of oil, leading to costly damage. Beyond performance, a bursting hose under high pressure poses a serious safety hazard to personnel, potentially causing severe injury from fluid injection or slips on spilled oil.

Regular visual inspections are key to preventing unexpected hose failures. Technicians should look for signs of wear like chafing against other components, cracks in the outer cover, bulges, or stiffening of the hose material. Any visible leaks, even small ones, indicate a problem that needs immediate attention. When replacing a hose, always ensure the new one matches the original specifications for length and diameter, and route it correctly to avoid sharp bends or future abrasion points.
