On a rig, this often means it's deciding which control circuit gets priority, or maybe it's switching between primary and secondary pressure lines for a specific function, like engaging a brake or signaling a system status. It’s not about moving huge volumes of oil, but rather making sure the right signal gets through at the right time to trigger something important.

When this SHUTTLE VALVE starts acting up, you'll usually notice some inconsistent behavior in whatever system it's feeding. Maybe a function that should engage quickly feels sluggish, or you get a slight drift in a hydraulic cylinder that relies on a holding pressure.
