047 004 09 CLUTCH DRUM ASSEMBLY This clutch assembly is responsible for transmitting torque from the hydraulic rotation motor to the drill steel. Located inside the drifter's rotation mechanism, it allows the operator to separate percussion from rotation. This function is crucial for collaring a hole accurately or when trying to free a stuck drill string without causing further jamming.

A worn or failing clutch directly impacts drilling efficiency. Symptoms often include weak or inconsistent rotation, especially under high load, which can significantly slow down your penetration rate. If the clutch starts to slip, it generates excess heat and can contaminate the hydraulic system with fine metal particles, leading to premature wear on other components.
