SPACER PART DC700
The 550 061 77 DUST COLLECTOR is a critical wear component, designed to maintain proper clearances and guide moving assemblies like feed carriages on drilling rigs. It prevents metal-on-metal contact, absorbing friction and ensuring smooth, aligned operation. Replace it to avoid accelerated wear on major components.

Full Technical Description
550 061 77 DUST COLLECTOR is usually found tucked into places where you need to keep things from rubbing directly or to maintain a specific gap in a moving assembly, like in the feed beam guides. It's essentially a sacrificial wear surface that also helps keep the feed carriage tracking straight. Without it, or if it's too thin, you'd have metal-on-metal contact, and that's just asking for trouble with accelerated wear on bigger, more expensive components. It spaces, yes, but it also takes the brunt of the friction and keeps everything aligned as the drill head moves up and down.
When this pad starts wearing down, or if it cracks and breaks up, you'll definitely notice some changes. The most common thing is increased slop or play in the system it supports – maybe the feed carriage starts to wobble a bit more than it should. You might hear new noises too, like a grinding or clunking, especially when the rig is cycling. That's usually the sign that clearances are getting out of whack, and other components are taking impact or friction they weren't designed for. If you let it go too long, you're looking at accelerated wear on the main feed beam rails or even issues with drill string alignment.
Replacing these isn't usually a huge job, but it's one of those things you shouldn't put off. When you're swapping them out, always give the mating surfaces a good once-over; make sure there's no gouging or uneven wear on the beam or carriage itself that could chew up the new pad prematurely. And here's a common one: don't just replace the worst-looking one. If there are multiple pads in a set, like on a feed beam, it's almost always best practice to replace them all at the same time. Otherwise, you'll end up with uneven loading and be back in there sooner than you'd like.
