550 145 38 CABIN ASSEMBLY Mounted directly on the hydraulic drifter body, this accumulator assembly plays a vital role in the drilling cycle. Its main job is to absorb the powerful recoil energy, or shockwave, that travels back from the drill bit through the drill string. By dampening this force, it protects the drifter's piston and other internal parts from extreme stress and fatigue.

A correctly functioning shock absorber is essential for both reliability and drilling speed. Without proper dampening, the drifter's service life would be significantly shortened due to repeated internal impacts. It also helps maintain constant pressure between the drill bit and the rock face, which translates to faster penetration rates and more efficient breaking of the rock.
