Replacing one of these isn't usually a huge job, but it's crucial to get the right spring. Don't just grab any old spring that looks similar. The spring rate and free length are absolutely critical for the system to function correctly. When you're in there, always give the spring pocket and the mating surfaces a good clean, and check for any burrs or wear marks that could bind the new spring. And hey, make sure you're putting it back in the right orientation if it's got a specific seat; sometimes they're not perfectly symmetrical, even if they look it.
