MUD GUARD
The 550 298 67 MUD GUARD is a critical shield for your rig's exposed components. It deflects debris, mud, and rocks, protecting hydraulic lines and electrical harnesses from premature wear and damage. Don't underestimate its role in preventing costly downtime by keeping vital parts safe.

Full Technical Description
550 298 67 MUD GUARD is pretty much what it sounds like – a shield. On a rig, especially out on a dusty or muddy site, this thing keeps the crud from getting into places it shouldn't. Think about your main hydraulic lines, electrical harnesses, or even some of the smaller actuators that are exposed. This guard deflects rocks, mud splatter, and general site debris, preventing direct hits and abrasive wear that would otherwise chew up hoses or wiring insulation. It’s not just for looks; it’s about keeping the vulnerable bits safe from the daily grind.
When these mud guards start to go, usually what happens is you'll see cracks forming, or maybe it's been bent out of shape from a rock strike. The big problem then is that the stuff it was supposed to protect suddenly gets exposed. You might start noticing premature wear on hydraulic hoses – scuff marks, nicks, or even small leaks developing faster than they should. Electrical cables can get chafed, leading to intermittent faults or even shorts. It’s not always an immediate catastrophic failure, but it definitely accelerates the wear and tear on adjacent components, costing you more downtime in the long run for bigger repairs.
Replacing one of these isn't usually a huge job, but it's one of those things that often gets overlooked during routine checks. When you're swapping it out, take a good look at what was behind the old guard. Are there any signs of damage to the hoses or wiring that were previously exposed? Sometimes the mounting hardware gets corroded or vibrated loose, so make sure you're using the right fasteners and torquing them properly. A loose guard is almost as bad as no guard at all, as it can vibrate and cause its own damage.
