When these seals start to wear out or fail, you'll usually notice a few tell-tale signs. The most obvious is often external leakage – that slow weep around the rod that eventually turns into a steady drip. But sometimes, the problem is internal. You might see cylinder drift, where the boom or feed just won't hold its position, or maybe the cylinder feels sluggish and inconsistent, like it's fighting itself. That's usually pressure bypassing past a worn piston seal, or the rod seal letting fluid through. You'll definitely be losing power and efficiency, and eventually, the whole function will just give up.

When you're installing one of these kits, make sure you clean everything thoroughly. And I mean *everything*. Any tiny bit of old grit, metal shaving, or even just dried-up crud left in there will chew up your new seals in no time flat. Also, don't forget to properly lubricate the new seals with clean hydraulic oil or assembly lube before you try to install them. It makes a huge difference in getting them seated right and preventing immediate damage. A lot of guys rush that step, and it always costs them later.
