LAMINATED SHEET
The 550 425 85 LAMINATED SHEET is a critical wear component designed to protect your drilling rig's structural parts from abrasion and impact. It provides a sacrificial surface, ensuring smooth operation and preventing costly damage to main assemblies while maintaining precise guidance for drill rods or materials.

Full Technical Description
550 425 85 LAMINATED SHEET is typically installed where you've got a lot of sliding contact or material moving past a fixed surface, like in a rod handling system or a feed guide. Its main purpose is to take the brunt of the wear and tear. It acts as a sacrificial barrier, shielding the more expensive, structural components of the rig from getting gouged or worn down by constant friction with drill rods, rock cuttings, or other moving parts. Basically, it's there to wear out so the big stuff doesn't have to.
When this liner starts to get thin, or if it cracks and breaks apart, you'll definitely notice a change in how things feel or sound. For example, if it's in a rod changer, you might start hearing more metallic scraping or clunking noises as the rods aren't guided as smoothly and are hitting the underlying steel. In a feed system, you might even see increased vibration or some scoring marks appearing on your drill rods because they're now rubbing directly against the main frame instead of the intended wear surface. It’s a pretty clear indicator that the protective layer is gone, and now your expensive components are taking the hit.
Replacing these sheets isn't usually a complex job, but it's one of those things that often gets overlooked during routine checks. When you're swapping one out, don't just focus on the liner itself. Make sure you inspect the mounting points and especially the fasteners. It's common for the bolts holding these liners in place to loosen up or even shear off over time due to all the vibration and impact. If those bolts aren't tight, the liner can shift, making it ineffective even if the sheet itself still has some life left. Always double-check that everything is secure and properly aligned when you install a new one.
