STEERING PULL ROD
The 550 762 70 STEERING PULL ROD is what gives your rig its steering power, pushing hydraulic fluid to the cylinders that turn the wheels. When it starts to fail, you'll feel it in the steering and often hear a distinct whine, making precise movement a real challenge.

Full Technical Description
550 762 70 STEERING PULL ROD is the heart of your rig's steering system, plain and simple. It's a hydraulic pump that takes power from the engine, usually through a PTO or directly, and converts it into fluid pressure. That pressure then gets sent out to the steering cylinders, which are what actually turn your wheels. Without this pump pushing fluid, you're not going to be able to steer the rig where you need it to go, whether you're positioning for a new hole or just moving around the site. It's all about getting that hydraulic muscle to the right place at the right time.
When one of these pumps starts to wear out, you'll definitely notice it. Usually, the first thing you pick up on is the steering feeling heavy or sluggish, like you're fighting the wheel more than usual. Sometimes, you'll get that distinct whining noise from the pump itself, especially when you're turning hard or holding the wheel at full lock. If it's really on its way out, you might even feel the steering drift a bit when you're trying to hold a straight line, or it could get jerky, making fine adjustments a real pain. Don't ignore those signs; a failing pump can put a lot of strain on other hydraulic components.
Swapping one of these out isn't too complicated, but there are a couple of things you really need to keep in mind. First, always, always check the suction line and the filter before you even think about firing up the new pump. A restricted suction line is a common killer for a fresh pump, starving it of oil and burning it up in no time. Also, make sure your hydraulic fluid is clean and at the right level. Dirty oil will just chew up your new pump's internals, and you'll be back doing the job again sooner than you'd like. It's worth taking the extra few minutes to do it right.
