GUARD

550 774 25 PROTECCIN A GUARD plays a vital role in shielding sensitive components on a rock drilling rig from the harsh underground environment. These parts are typically found protecting hydraulic hoses, electrical cables, or exposed mechanical linkages on the feed beam, drifter body, or boom structure. Their main job is to act as a physical barrier against falling rocks, abrasive dust, water spray, and accidental impacts that are common during drilling operations.

Protecting vital components directly contributes to both operational safety and machine reliability. If a GUARD is cracked or missing, a stray rock chip or falling debris could easily nick a hydraulic hose or sever an electrical cable, leading to a sudden loss of function and potential safety hazards. By keeping these critical elements intact and free from damage, the GUARD helps maintain consistent drilling performance and reduces the risk of unexpected downtime, which is costly in any mining operation.

Typical failure symptoms for a GUARD include visible cracks, dents, deformation, or outright breakage. It's important to regularly inspect these protective covers during routine maintenance checks. If a GUARD shows signs of significant damage or is missing, it should be replaced promptly. Ignoring a damaged GUARD leaves expensive and critical machine parts exposed, inviting premature wear or catastrophic failure that could be easily avoided with a simple replacement.
