HOSE COMPL.

HOSE COMPL. 5508 1849 00 A hose assembly plays a vital role in any hydraulic or pneumatic system on an underground drilling rig. These flexible lines are responsible for safely and efficiently transferring high-pressure hydraulic oil, compressed air, or water between different components. Whether it's delivering power to the drifter, operating the feed cylinder, or supplying lubrication, a properly functioning hose ensures the fluid reaches its destination with the necessary pressure and flow, enabling the rig to perform its intended functions smoothly.

The integrity of these hoses directly impacts the safety and reliability of the entire drilling operation. A compromised hose can lead to hydraulic fluid leaks, which are not only a safety hazard due to potential slips and environmental concerns but also result in a significant loss of system pressure. If a hose supplying the drifter's impact mechanism fails, for example, the drifter will lose impact energy, leading to slower penetration rates and increased wear on other components as the machine struggles to drill effectively.

Visible signs of wear like chafing, bulges, cracks, or persistent weeping around fittings are clear indicators that a hose needs attention. A sudden drop in system pressure or erratic operation of a specific function can also point to an internal hose failure. Regular visual inspections during pre-shift checks are crucial. When replacing a hose, always ensure the new part is the correct specification to maintain system integrity and prevent premature failure, helping to keep your rig running safely and productively.
