550 863 14 FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY Located at the very front of the drifter body, this assembly provides the essential support for the shank adapter. It houses the main guide bushing that ensures the drill steel is correctly aligned with the piston's line of impact. This direct alignment is key to transferring maximum energy to the rock face and achieving good penetration rates.

Proper function of this front assembly is vital for the drifter's reliability. If the internal bushing wears, the resulting poor alignment causes energy loss and can lead to premature failure of the shank adapter. More seriously, failed seals can allow flushing water and abrasive rock dust into the hydraulic system, causing rapid and severe damage to the drifter's core components.
