The housing also helps to manage and dissipate the heat generated during braking, which protects the entire motor assembly.

The integrity of the brake housing is critical for both operational safety and drilling accuracy. A crack in the housing, for instance, can lead to a sudden loss of brake pressure, causing the feed carriage to unexpectedly slide down the beam. Even minor damage can cause brake drag or poor engagement, resulting in inaccurate hole collaring and premature wear on other driveline components.
