FINAL DRIVES

551 502 43A FINAL DRIVES A FINAL DRIVES is essential for managing the operating temperatures within a drilling rig. Its primary role is to power the cooling fan, which dissipates heat from vital systems like the hydraulic oil circuit or the engine coolant. This unit is typically found within the cooling package, often located near the hydraulic tank or engine compartment, ensuring a steady airflow across heat exchangers.

Maintaining proper operating temperatures is crucial for the longevity and performance of any underground drilling machine. When a FINAL DRIVES operates correctly, it prevents hydraulic oil from overheating, which can otherwise lead to reduced viscosity, accelerated wear on pumps and valves, and a significant drop in drilling efficiency. Similarly, it keeps the engine from reaching critical temperatures, safeguarding against potential damage or complete failure during demanding operations.

Common signs of a failing FINAL DRIVES include the cooling fan not spinning, unusual noises coming from the fan or its drive mechanism, or the machine displaying high temperature warnings. If the cooling system is not working effectively, you might notice a drop in hydraulic power or engine performance. Regular checks for wear, proper belt tension if applicable, and ensuring the cooling fins are clear of debris are simple steps to extend its life. Replacing a worn or faulty FINAL DRIVES promptly is key to avoiding more costly repairs down the line.
