COMPRESSOR UNIT

551 531 86 COMPRESSOR UNIT Generating a reliable supply of compressed air is the main function of this compressor. This airflow is essential for flushing rock cuttings out of the borehole during drilling. Without sufficient air, cuttings can pack the hole, which dramatically slows down penetration rates and can lead to the drill string getting jammed.

As the heart of the rig's pneumatic system, its health directly influences the entire drilling cycle's efficiency. A properly functioning compressor not only ensures clean holes but also helps minimize wear on expensive drill bits and rods by preventing them from re-grinding cleared material. It is a major assembly, usually mounted on the rig carrier.

A noticeable drop in flushing air pressure or the unit taking longer than usual to build pressure are common symptoms of wear. Also, listen for any unusual noises during operation. Regular maintenance should include checking the oil level and quality, and frequently cleaning or replacing the air intake filters to prevent dust ingestion.
