HOSE

551 552 01 HOSE A HOSE like this one plays a vital role in transmitting hydraulic power throughout an underground drilling rig. It carries pressurized fluid to activate cylinders, motors, and other components that control movements such as boom positioning, feed extension, and drifter rotation. Without a properly functioning HOSE, the machine cannot perform its tasks efficiently or safely. Maintaining proper fluid flow is fundamental for the entire hydraulic system to operate as intended, ensuring the rig responds accurately to operator commands.

The integrity of a hydraulic HOSE directly impacts both the reliability and safety of the drilling operation. A damaged or worn HOSE can lead to significant pressure loss, reducing the power available for drilling and potentially causing unexpected machine movements. Leaks not only waste expensive hydraulic fluid but also create slippery conditions, posing a slip hazard for personnel. Furthermore, high-pressure fluid leaks can be extremely dangerous, capable of causing serious injection injuries if skin contact occurs. Ensuring these fluid lines are in top condition helps prevent costly downtime and protects the crew.

Common signs that a hydraulic HOSE needs attention include visible cracks, abrasions, bulges, or fluid weeping around fittings. If you notice any stiffness or hardening of the HOSE material, that's also a clear indicator of wear. A sudden drop in hydraulic pressure or sluggish machine response can also point to an internal HOSE failure. Regular visual inspections are crucial, especially in high-flex areas. When replacing a HOSE, always ensure the new part is routed correctly to avoid kinking or rubbing against other components, which can shorten its lifespan significantly.
