INDICATOR

551 746 67 INDICATOR this is typically one of those gauges or sensors that gives you a direct read on a critical system parameter, often hydraulic pressure or sometimes the position of a key component like a feed cylinder. It’s the eyes and ears for what’s happening internally, letting you see if the pump is building pressure correctly for the drifter, or if your feed is actually extending as commanded. Basically, it translates a physical state into something you can monitor, which is pretty fundamental for knowing if the rig’s doing what it’s supposed to.

If this INDICATOR starts going south, you’ll often see erratic readings – maybe it’s jumping around like crazy when the system should be stable, or it’s just plain stuck at zero or maxed out. I’ve seen plenty of times where a drifter starts hitting inconsistently, or the feed feels sluggish, and you’re scratching your head because the *other* pressure gauges look fine. But then you check this one, and it’s either dead or giving you numbers that just don’t make sense for what the rig’s actually doing. That kind of misleading data can send you down a rabbit hole troubleshooting other components that are perfectly good.

When it’s time to swap this out, first off, make sure you've bled any pressure from that circuit – you don't want a hydraulic shower. It’s usually a pretty straightforward R&R, but don’t just slap the new one in. Take a quick look at the threads and the sealing surface on the manifold or block for any damage or crud. And here’s a common one: if it’s an electronic INDICATOR, always give the wiring harness and connector a good once-over for corrosion or chafing *before* you condemn the INDICATOR itself. Sometimes it’s just a bad connection, not a bad part.
