552 194 40B COUPLING ELEMENT This coupling element is the flexible insert that sits between the two halves of a shaft coupling. Its main job is to transmit torque from a drive motor to a driven component, like the main hydraulic pump or the screw compressor. It also dampens torsional vibrations and accommodates small misalignments between the shafts, which prevents excess stress on bearings and seals.

A worn or damaged coupling element can lead to serious reliability issues. Increased vibration from the power pack can travel through the machine's frame, and the shock loads from starting and stopping are no longer absorbed. If the element fails completely, power transmission will be lost entirely, causing an immediate shutdown of the hydraulic system or compressor and stopping all drilling operations.
