This not only slows down the drilling cycle but also puts a heavy strain on the feed motor and can lead to premature stretching or failure of the feed chain. A single bad roller can cause the drifter to misalign, leading to poor collaring and increased wear on drill steel.

Listen for unusual grinding noises from the feed during operation and look for any jerky movement of the drifter. During routine checks, ensure the rollers spin freely and have no flat spots or excessive play. It is good practice to replace these rollers in sets to maintain proper drifter alignment and prevent overloading the new components.
