YOKE 5541 9367 00 is what ties into a driveline, often on a feed motor or a pump drive, allowing power to jump across a bit of an angle without everything locking up solid. It’s essentially the connection point that lets the shaft spin freely even when things aren’t perfectly lined up, which, let’s be honest, they rarely are on a rig that’s seen some hours. This component takes all that rotational force and keeps it moving where it needs to go, accommodating any minor misalignment or movement.

When this yoke starts wearing thin, usually in the cross and bearing area, you’ll definitely notice it. The most common thing is a distinct clunking or thumping sound, especially under load or when the driveline changes direction. Sometimes you’ll feel a vibration that wasn’t there before, running right through the machine. If you let it go too long, things can get real ugly, real fast, with potential for shaft damage or even complete driveline separation.

When you’re swapping one of these out, make sure you check the mating splines on the shaft it connects to. A lot of guys just yank the old one off and slap a new one on, but if the splines on the shaft are chewed up, that new yoke won’t last long either. Also, always make sure your U-joint bolts are torqued right; loose bolts are a quick way to trash a new yoke and cross.
