WIPER BLADE
The WIPER BLADE 5580 0153 36 is your hydraulic cylinder's first line of defense, scraping off dirt and debris from the rod. This small but critical component prevents contaminants from reaching the main rod seal, protecting your system from premature wear and costly leaks. Don't overlook its importance for smooth, reliable operation.

Full Technical Description
WIPER BLADE 5580 0153 36 is the unsung hero that keeps your hydraulic cylinder rods clean. It’s that critical first line of defense, scraping off all the dust, mud, and whatever else tries to cling to the rod as it retracts back into the cylinder. If this little guy isn't doing its job, you're basically inviting all that abrasive crud straight past the main seal, which will just chew it up and contaminate your system in no time.
You’ll usually notice a worn-out wiper when you start seeing a thin film of oil, or worse, actual streaks of dirt and grime, left on the cylinder rod after it retracts. That’s a dead giveaway it’s not scraping properly anymore. If you let it go too long, that grit eventually gets past the wiper, then past the main rod seal, and before you know it, you've got external leaks and internal bypass, leading to sluggish cylinder movement or even complete failure. It’s a small part, but it causes big headaches if neglected.
When you're swapping one of these out, take a good look at the rod itself. Often, folks just yank the old one and slap a new one in, but if the rod has any nicks, gouges, or pitting, that new wiper won't last long either. Clean out the gland thoroughly before installation, too; you don't want any old debris sitting in there to damage the fresh blade. It’s a quick job, but doing it right saves you another trip later.
