Any damage or deformation to this frame can have serious consequences. For instance, a bent A-frame will cause the feed to be misaligned, leading to difficulty collaring a hole and causing excessive wear on the drill steel and shank. It also puts abnormal stress on the boom pins and bushings, accelerating their wear.

Regularly inspect the A-frame for any signs of cracking, especially around the welds and pin bores. After any accidental impact to the boom or feed, a thorough check is necessary. If cracks or bending are found, the frame must be replaced to ensure safe operation and prevent further damage to the rig.
