CYLINDER, STEERING
The 560 141 34B CYLINDER, STEERING is the critical hydraulic component that articulates your rig, providing directional control and stability. When it starts to fail, you'll notice sluggish steering or unwanted drift, making precise maneuvering a real headache on the job site.

Full Technical Description
560 141 34B CYLINDER, STEERING is the muscle that actually turns the rig, pushing and pulling the articulation joint to get you pointed where you need to go. It’s not just about steering; this cylinder also helps keep the machine stable, especially when you're traversing uneven ground or trying to position the drill for a tricky hole. Think of it as the primary hydraulic actuator for directional control, taking the oil pressure from the steering valve and converting it into mechanical force to articulate the chassis. Without it, you're just driving straight, and that's not much good on a drill site.
When this cylinder starts to go, you'll definitely notice it. Usually, the first thing you pick up on is the steering getting a bit sloppy or sluggish. You might find the rig wants to drift a little when you're trying to hold a straight line, or it just doesn't respond as sharply as it should when you turn the wheel. Sometimes, you'll hear a bit of groaning or chattering from the steering system as the internal seals start bypassing, or if the rod seal is leaking, you'll see oil weeping around the rod end. That's a clear sign it's losing its ability to hold pressure and needs attention before it leaves you stranded.
Replacing one of these isn't rocket science, but you've got to do it right. Always make sure you depressurize the steering circuit completely before you start disconnecting lines – you don't want a hydraulic shower. When you're putting the new one in, pay close attention to the mounting points and ensure everything's torqued down correctly. A common oversight is not properly bleeding the air out of the system after installation; if you don't, the steering will feel spongy and inconsistent until all that air works its way out. Also, check the condition of the pins and bushings at both ends; they often wear out alongside the cylinder itself.
