560 200 91 MOTOR, WIPER is what keeps your windshield clear when the mud starts flying or the dust gets thick. It’s a small electric motor, usually tucked away in the cab roof or under the dash, that drives the linkage for the wiper arms. Without it, you’re basically blind in bad weather, which is a big safety issue on a busy site. It just needs to reliably sweep the glass so the operator can focus on the drill string, not squinting through a dirty window.

When this motor starts to go, you’ll usually notice the wipers getting sluggish, maybe even stopping mid-sweep. Sometimes it’ll just hum and not move at all, or you might hear a grinding noise from the motor itself as the gears strip out. It’s not just an annoyance; trying to drill when you can’t see properly is a recipe for disaster, or at the very least, a lot of downtime waiting for the weather to clear. You might also see them juddering across the screen, which is a pretty clear sign it's struggling.

Replacing one of these isn't usually a huge job, but it can be fiddly getting to it depending on the rig model. Make sure you check the linkage arms and pivots for any binding or corrosion while you’re in there; a stiff linkage can burn out a new motor pretty quick. And always double-check the electrical connection and fuse before you assume the motor itself is dead. Sometimes it’s just a loose wire or a blown fuse, not the motor itself, that’s causing the headache.
