When a bushing wears out, the joint develops excessive play. This looseness can make it difficult to accurately position the feed beam for drilling, leading to slower cycle times and misaligned holes. The resulting shock loads and vibrations also put extra stress on hydraulic cylinders, pins, and welded structures, potentially causing more serious failures.

Listen for knocking sounds from the linkages during operation and visually check for any excessive movement in the joints. Regular greasing is essential to flush out contaminants and extend the life of the bushing. If you notice significant play, it's best to replace the bushing early to avoid damaging the pin or the main structural component it fits into.
