PUMP, PISTON

560 403 21 PUMP, PISTON is what actually shoves the hydraulic oil through the system, building up the pressure you need to run everything on the rig. Think of it as the muscle inside the pump, constantly reciprocating to displace fluid. It's a critical piece for getting flow and pressure to your drifter, feed cylinder, rotation motor, you name it. Without it doing its job right, nothing moves like it should.

When this piston starts wearing out, you’ll usually notice a drop in overall hydraulic power. Things might feel sluggish, or you might see your pressure gauges fluctuating more than usual, especially under load. A common tell-tale sign is the drifter not hitting as hard or the feed cylinder feeling a bit spongy. Sometimes, you'll even hear the pump itself making a different, more strained noise as it struggles to build and hold pressure due to internal leakage around the worn piston.

If you're swapping one of these out, don't just throw the new piston in and call it a day. Always take a good look at the cylinder bore it runs in. Check for any scoring or excessive wear, because if the bore is chewed up, that new piston won't last long either. And for goodness sake, make sure you properly lubricate the new piston and seals during assembly. It's a small step that gets overlooked sometimes, but it makes a big difference in how long that new part holds up.
