BASE 6060 0058 62 Acting as the structural foundation for key drilling components, this base provides a rigid and accurately machined mounting point. It is typically located on the feed beam, where it supports the drifter cradle or rotation unit. Its primary job is to hold these heavy, high-vibration components in perfect alignment with the drill string axis. Without this precise alignment, significant stress is placed on connected shafts, gears, and hydraulic motors, leading to accelerated wear.

The integrity of this base directly impacts drilling performance and the service life of the entire drill head. A warped or cracked base will cause misalignment, resulting in a loss of impact energy before it even reaches the rock. For example, if the drifter is not held perfectly straight, the shank adapter and drill steel will wear out much faster. This also introduces harmful vibrations throughout the feed and boom, which can damage hoses, fittings, and other nearby parts.

During routine inspections, carefully check the base for any signs of fatigue cracking, especially around the mounting bolt holes. Also, look for any fretting or wear on the machined mounting surfaces. If you notice persistent oil leaks from a connected motor or gearbox, a distorted base could be the root cause. Always replace a damaged base; attempting to repair it often creates more problems than it solves.
