623 110 80 SLEEVE, THREADED is usually found holding things together, often securing a gland or a bearing housing in a hydraulic cylinder or perhaps in the feed beam assembly. It threads in, providing that crucial clamping force to keep everything aligned and sealed up tight. Think of it as the main anchor point for a seal package or a bushing, making sure the rod or shaft moves straight without any slop. It’s a pretty straightforward piece, but without it, nothing stays where it’s supposed to.

If this sleeve starts to wear its threads, or if it loosens up, you'll definitely notice some problems. Usually, what happens is whatever it's supposed to be holding in place – say, a cylinder gland – starts to shift. That can lead to premature seal wear, and then you've got a hydraulic leak, maybe even oil dripping down the cylinder rod. Or, if it's securing a bearing, you might get excessive play, which translates to vibration or a knocking sound when the rig is cycling. You might even see the rod or shaft start to wobble a bit, which is a sure sign something's not right inside.

When you're replacing one of these, or even just doing a rebuild, always give the threads a good once-over, both on the sleeve itself and on the housing it screws into. You'd be surprised how many times a worn thread on the housing gets overlooked, and then the new sleeve just doesn't hold. Make sure to clean out any old thread locker or debris too. And don't forget to check the mating surfaces for any nicks or burrs before you put it back together; a tiny scratch can cause a big problem down the road. Torque specs are important here too, but honestly, a lot of guys just go by feel once they've done a few.
