748 300 04 LEVEL is usually stuck down in a tank somewhere, keeping an eye on your hydraulic oil, fuel, or even the water supply for dust suppression. It's basically the rig's way of knowing if it's about to run dry or if you're overfilling something important. The signal it sends back tells the control system whether to kick on a pump, shut one off, or just throw up an alarm on the display so you know what's going on.

When this little guy starts acting up, you'll usually notice some weird stuff happening with your fluid levels. Maybe the low oil alarm keeps popping up even though the tank's full, or the rig tries to start a pump when it shouldn't. I've seen them stick open or closed, which can lead to pumps running dry and burning out, or tanks overflowing if you're not paying close attention. Sometimes the display just shows a constant 'low' or 'high' reading that doesn't change, even after you've topped things off.

Replacing one of these isn't usually a huge job, but make sure you drain the tank down below the sensor's mounting point first, or you'll have a mess. Always check the wiring harness and connector for corrosion or damage before you even think about swapping out the sensor itself. A lot of times, it's just a corroded pin causing the issue, not the sensor itself. And don't forget to cycle the system a few times after installation to make sure the new one is reading correctly.
