Full Technical Description
770 169 18A REAR CENTRAL COVER This cover acts as a critical barrier, sealing an opening on a major component like a gearbox or motor housing. Its primary job is to keep abrasive rock dust, grit, and water from getting inside. At the same time, it effectively contains internal lubricants such as grease or oil, ensuring that moving parts stay properly lubricated.
A missing or damaged cover can lead directly to premature equipment failure. When contaminants get past a compromised seal, they mix with the lubricant and create an abrasive slurry that destroys bearings and gears. For example, if this cover on a drifter gearbox is cracked, the resulting contamination can cause the rotation mechanism to fail, stopping the entire drilling operation.
Visually inspect the cover for cracks, dents, or loose bolts during regular maintenance. If you notice any grease or oil leaking from the sealing edge, it's a sign that the cover or its gasket is no longer sealing correctly. Always replace a damaged cover immediately to prevent costly damage to internal parts.
Applications
- Underground drilling jumbos
- Mining and tunneling
- Hydraulic control systems
- Rock drilling spare parts
