770 239 27D VALVE, CHARGING This charging valve is the access point for servicing the hydraulic accumulator, which acts as an energy reservoir for the rock drill's impact mechanism. It allows a technician to connect a charging kit to fill or adjust the nitrogen gas pressure on one side of the accumulator's diaphragm or piston. This stored gas pressure is what provides the power for effective percussion and dampens hydraulic shock.

Without the correct accumulator pre-charge, drilling performance suffers directly. A slow leak through this valve will cause the drifter to lose its hitting power, resulting in lower penetration rates and inefficient operation. It also increases the risk of damage to hydraulic hoses and seals throughout the system, as pressure spikes from the percussion circuit are no longer properly absorbed.

If you find yourself needing to top up the accumulator's nitrogen pressure more frequently than usual, the charging valve is a likely cause. Before attempting a replacement, the accumulator must be completely and safely depressurized. Installing a new valve is a simple task, but ensuring the sealing surfaces are clean is key to preventing future leaks.
