HEX.SCREW

800 437 09 BOLT DE CABEA HEXAGON (HALF THREAD) Hex screws are essential mechanical fasteners found throughout a rock drilling rig. Their primary job is to connect and secure different parts, from protective covers and brackets to critical housings and structural elements. A properly torqued HEX.SCREW maintains the rigid assembly of components, preventing unwanted movement and ensuring that parts remain correctly aligned and functional during demanding operations.

The integrity of these fasteners directly impacts the overall reliability and safety of the drilling equipment. If a HEX.SCREW loosens or fails, it can lead to excessive vibration, misalignment of parts, or even the detachment of components. For instance, a loose screw securing a cover on a drifter body could allow dust and debris to enter, compromising internal components and reducing impact energy. Such failures can quickly escalate, causing premature wear on other parts and potentially creating hazardous conditions for operators.

Regular inspections for loose or damaged hex screws are a simple yet crucial part of preventive maintenance. Look for signs of corrosion, stripped threads, or sheared heads. If a screw shows any signs of wear or damage, it should be replaced immediately with the correct part. Always ensure proper torque is applied during installation to maintain the secure connection and prevent future issues.
