GREASE TOOL

800 632 29 PUMP ASSEMBLY is what keeps your drill bit or shank adapter locked into the drifter. It's not just holding it in; it's making sure that impact energy from the piston gets transferred efficiently to the rock. Without it, your tool would just wobble around, or worse, fall right out of the chuck housing. It's a critical piece for getting the hammer blow where it needs to go, maintaining proper alignment and energy transfer.

When this retainer starts to go, you'll usually notice a few things. First off, you might hear more clatter from the drifter's front end – that's the tool moving around more than it should. You'll also see a drop in penetration rate, because that impact energy isn't transferring cleanly to the rock face. Sometimes, the tool will even start to 'walk' out of the chuck during drilling, which is a real headache and can damage other components if ignored. It's a clear sign you're losing proper tool engagement and efficiency.

Look, replacing this isn't rocket science, but you gotta do it right. When you pull the old one out, always check the chuck housing bore for wear or damage – sometimes a bad retainer lets the tool chew up the housing. And don't forget to inspect the shank adapter's collar or lugs for excessive wear too; a worn shank can prematurely wear out a new retainer. It's all about making sure everything fits snug and transfers power cleanly, so take a good look at the mating surfaces.
