Full Technical Description
800 678 29 TERMINAL, BATTERY Located within the rig's main chassis, this shelf serves a critical role in the machine's electrical system. It supports the full weight of the heavy batteries, isolating them from the intense shocks and vibrations encountered during drilling and tramming. A properly secured battery is essential for preventing premature power-source failure and maintaining consistent electrical contact.
A failure of this component can have serious consequences for both safety and machine availability. If the shelf cracks or breaks, a battery could come loose and short-circuit against the frame, creating a significant fire hazard. Even minor damage can lead to excessive vibration, which shortens battery life and can cause unexpected power loss, halting operations completely.
During routine inspections, check the shelf for any signs of cracking, bending, or severe corrosion, particularly around the welds and bolt holes. Ensure all mounting hardware is present and tightened correctly. If the shelf is damaged, it should be replaced promptly to avoid electrical issues or a complete structural failure.
