SPHERRIC.ROLLER BEAR
The 855 464 39 BEARING, ESFRICO, RODILLOS is what lets things move freely without binding up, like on a feed cylinder or boom pivot. It handles the angular misalignment and takes a beating. Keep an eye on it; a bit of play here can cause a lot of headaches down the line.

855 464 39 BEARING, ESFRICO, RODILLOS is one of those unsung heroes that lets your rig articulate and move without tearing itself apart. Think of it as a flexible pivot point. It’s designed to handle loads from all sorts of angles, letting components like feed cylinders, boom pivots, or even some of the more dynamic connections on a rock drill move a bit out of perfect alignment without binding up. This is crucial because nothing on a drill rig stays perfectly straight or square when it’s working hard, especially when you’re pushing into rock or swinging a boom around. It absorbs some of that dynamic stress and keeps things moving smoothly, preventing premature wear on other, more expensive components.
When this bearing starts to go, you'll definitely notice it. Usually what happens is the internal clearances get sloppy, and you'll start hearing a distinct knocking or clunking sound, particularly when the rig is articulating or under load. If it's in a feed cylinder mount, you might feel a bit of jerkiness or inconsistent movement as the cylinder extends or retracts. In a boom pivot, you'll see excessive play, and the whole assembly might feel a bit loose or ""wandery."" Don't ignore these signs; that play means metal is hitting metal where it shouldn't, and it’s only a matter of time before it starts chewing up the pins or housing, leading to a much bigger repair bill.
Swapping one of these out isn't usually a huge job, but there are a couple of things to keep in mind. First off, when you pull the old one, always take a really good look at the pin or shaft that runs through it. If that pin is worn or grooved, a new bearing won't last long at all – it'll just get chewed up again. You might need to replace the pin too. And if it's a greaseable type, make sure you pump some fresh grease into it after installation; it's easy to forget that little step in the rush to get the machine back running.
