MULTIPOLE CLIP

858 810 19 CONECTOR, MLTIPLOS POLOS, MALE is essentially the guts of a wet clutch or brake pack, depending on where it's fitted. These discs, usually alternating between friction and steel separator plates, are what actually transmit power or stop rotation. When hydraulic pressure applies them, they clamp together, creating the friction needed to engage a drive or hold a shaft steady. Think of it like the friction material in your truck's brakes, but designed to work submerged in oil, handling the heavy loads and constant cycling you see in a drill rig's feed system or rotation unit.

When these discs start to wear thin or warp, you'll definitely notice it. Usually, what happens is the clutch or brake starts slipping. For a feed system, that means your feed rate gets sluggish or inconsistent, especially under load – it just won't hold position like it used to. If it's in a rotation unit, you might get erratic rotation, or it might not stop cleanly when you release the controls. Sometimes, you'll even hear a bit of a groan or chatter as it tries to engage but can't quite grab properly. The oil might also start looking a bit darker than usual, picking up all that worn friction material.

Replacing these isn't too complicated, but it's crucial to get the stack height right and make sure all the discs are oriented correctly – easy to mess up if you're rushing. Always replace the full set of friction and steel plates together; don't just swap out the worst-looking ones. And here's a common one: always check the condition of the return springs and the piston seals in the clutch or brake housing while you're in there. A weak spring or a leaking seal can cause just as much trouble as worn discs, even with new ones installed.
