Think of it as the rig’s working brain; it needs this space to process commands and run its various functions, not just log data.

When this memory module starts acting up, or if it’s on its way out, you’ll usually notice some pretty frustrating glitches. The rig might start throwing intermittent communication errors that don't seem to have any other cause, or the display might freeze up completely for a few seconds before recovering. Sometimes, the rig just won't boot up past a certain point, or it’ll get stuck in a loop trying to load the operating system. You might even see parameters drift or reset unexpectedly after a power cycle, which is a dead giveaway that the memory isn't holding its data reliably.
