Its main job is to keep the oil temperature stable and within the optimal operating range. Proper fluid temperature is crucial for protecting the internal components of the drifter, pumps, and motors from accelerated wear.

If this fan stops working, the oil temperature will rise quickly, especially under heavy load. Overheated oil becomes thin and loses its lubricating properties, which can lead to premature failure of expensive components. It can also cause the rig to lose drilling power or trigger an emergency shutdown, stopping production entirely.

A common sign of failure is a high-temperature warning on the control panel. You might also hear unusual grinding or whining noises from the fan motor. Periodically check that the fan blades are intact and that the cooler fins are free of dirt and debris, as this ensures proper airflow.
